Warehouse

How it Works

Warehouse Management Software (WMS) is a specialized application designed to streamline and optimize the operations of warehouses and distribution centres. Here are some key features and functionalities commonly found in WMS:

Inventory Management: Provides real-time visibility into inventory levels, locations, and movements within the warehouse, enabling accurate inventory tracking and control.

Order Management: Manages incoming orders, including order processing, picking, packing, and shipping, to ensure timely and accurate order fulfilment

Receiving and Put away: Streamlines the receiving process by automating receipt verification, labelling, and put away of incoming goods into designated storage locations.

Picking and Packing: Optimizes the picking process by generating efficient picking routes, organizing pick lists, and supporting various picking methods such as batch picking, wave picking, and zone picking.

Shipping and Manifesting: Generates shipping labels, packing slips, and shipping manifests for outbound shipments, and integrates with carrier systems for seamless order fulfilment and shipment tracking.

Warehouse Layout and Slotting: Optimizes warehouse layout and storage slotting to maximize space utilization, minimize travel time, and improve picking efficiency.

Barcode and RFID Integration: Supports barcode and RFID technology for efficient item identification, tracking, and verification throughout the warehouse operations.

Cross-Docking: Facilitates direct transfer of goods from receiving to outbound shipping without intermediate storage, reducing handling and transit times for certain types of shipments.

Cycle Counting and Stock Replenishment: Automates cycle counting processes to ensure inventory accuracy and initiates stock replenishment based on predefined reorder points and lead times.

Labour Management: Tracks labour productivity, performance, and utilization within the warehouse, enabling better workforce planning and optimization.

Reporting and Analytics: Generates reports and analytics on key warehouse performance metrics such as inventory turnover, order accuracy, picking efficiency, and labour productivity.

Integration with ERP and Other Systems: Integrates with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, transportation management systems (TMS), and other business applications for seamless data exchange and workflow automation.

Multi-site and Multi-warehouse Support: Supports management of multiple warehouses or distribution centres, allowing centralized control and visibility across all locations.

Compliance and Security: Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., FDA, OSHA) and implements security measures to protect sensitive warehouse data and operations.

By leveraging Warehouse Management Software, companies can improve warehouse efficiency, accuracy, and productivity, reduce operational costs, and enhance customer satisfaction through faster order fulfilment and improved inventory management.

In warehouse process, once the job is cleared the items can be received and stored inside the warehouse. The materials can be released when there is a requisition. Based on when you stored materials, based on when you released materials and based on how many stocks are available in warehouse the storage charges, billing charges, loading charges and unloading charges can be billed to the warehouse. For example if a shipment of weight 500 kgs is received in the warehouse, then its charges per day or charges per hour will be calculated to determine the warehouse charges. The loading charges, unloading charges per kg, per shipment or per vehicle can be defined based on your business objectives and there is a facility to define the charges at the time of receiving the stocks at the warehouse. Expenses like vehicle charges, handling charges, loading charges, unloading charges can be merged with warehouse charges and be produced as a single bill which can then be given to the Warehouse. There is also option to do “Other Warehouse Management”. In other warehouse management the label print, weigh scale integration, bar code etc can be integrated in our software.

There is also Mobile app for warehouse management software and materials can be received by scanning the barcode using the mobile when the materials reach the warehouse. When the customer gives us the materials along with label and barcode in excel sheet, the details of label and barcode in excel sheet will be uploaded in our software and the materials can be received in customers label and barcode. In case the customer does not provide any bar code or labels for the materials and only provides the quantity of materials delivered, then the matierials can be uploaded in Excel before receipt by the vendor and at the time of receiving the materials a bar code can be printed using bar code printer and the bar code can be attached to the corresponding matierial. At the time of receiving of materials manual entry should be done. At the time of materials dispatch, manual entry is done again.

Our software also supports multiwarehouse service. Multiwarehouse service is merging 4 warehouses for a service as an example. Multiwarehouse services is sending materials from 1st warehouse to 2nd warehouse and further sending materials from 2nd warehouse to 3rd warehouse and so on. Our software also supports transfer of materials from warehouse to different areas.

Solution offered by our software for a real time problem related to warehouse:
Customer hands over 800 boxes of materials to vendor to be stored in warehouse. The customer’s material is being allocated 450 sqft in the warehouse and customer is being charged 45 Rs for 1 sqft out of the total 450 sqft. On the fourth day from the date of arrival of the materials if 200 boxes are dispatched then number of boxes should change to 600 in the records and customer should be charged for 600 boxes and not for 800 boxes on the fourth day, but customer was still charged for 800 boxes on the fourth day with the manual process. This problem can be eliminated with the use of our software by calculating the charges for storage of boxes based on weight or volume. In case 200 boxes are dispatched the weight or volume of the boxes(equal to 200 boxes) will be uploaded in our software and will immediately report 600 boxes in storage at the warehouse. Therefore on fourth day the customer will be charged for 600 boxes and not 800 boxes by using our software.
